Big Howdy from Deep East Texas. Sit and enjoy yourself there is plenty of info and tiers ready to help. All you have to do is ask. The only stupid question is the one that is not asked.

Welcome from NW Ohio! Chasing snook sounds like a blast! Is on my list of 'must do' fishing. Glad to have you sign up. :jig:

Yeah I do but to tell you the truth I use lighter wire than you'd think. Mostly trying to imitate small forage we call glass minnows. They are so small and transparent I mostly use very light jigs. Its tough to find high quality saltwater bucktail jigs here.

I just found out that Penn is reissuing the old 704 still Made in the USA. I might have to get that to relive my youth and tie up some serious jigs to walk the bridges for Snook and Cobia.

Glass minnows aka "nehu" were the #1 shoreline forage in Kaneohe Bay, so I too grew up throwing nylon floss jigs on 4# ultra light gear. Haven't fished there in at least 30 yrs. - wouldn't mind seeing how soft plastic replicas like the Lunker City 2-1/2" Fin-S-Fish "Ice Shad" would work. You might be able to find vintage 704s if you look hard enuf as the old Penns were made to last. In my day the reel to aspire to was the Mitchell Garcia 308, but growing up without much spending $ us kids had to settle for Compaqs.

I haven't tied any yet, but think natural wool would make an ideal glass minnow tie material.
