Okay guys..time for a dumb question. would it be possible to use a jig mold and make your jig out of solder like an ice jig but just do it using like a ball head mold???

Gotta watch out to because there's acid based solder & resin based.

Not sure if the acid base is good on alum molds.

And, the fumes from acid core are DANGEROUS and will corrode nearby metal thru air transport. Resin core will float on a melt and best blotted off with paper towels to avoid stinky smoke. Personally, I've found most solders impossible to pour closed mold small jig heads with pot & ladle.

What kind of solder? The nearly pure tin variety might pour small jig heads, but the leaded type wouldn't for me.

I've gone thru a coupla hundred lbs., mostly SnPb 60-40 & 50-50 bars, for adding tin to lead. But, I've used wire remnant scrap lots and while the resin core was useful after clean up, no way I'll ever process acid core again.
