stopped by joanns today on the way home from my doctors appt. and bought some metallic finish fabric that will be great for the wool jigs, bought two shades of blue, a beautiful kelly green, a silver, a gold and a red as well as another pearlized sheer which was a clear pearl holographic with a crinkle finish, bought some the other day but it was a smooth finish, you can see that the fibers are about as wide as flashabou and are already pulling out of the sides of the cut fabric so it should be easy to pull them out, these fibers are flat like flashabou, and the pearlized sheer looks to be flat also, in other words eachh fibber looks flat. much of these fabrics has a beautiful shiny side to them, and the other side is a flatter duller look, which is the backing fibers I believe, so ya gotta figure out which edge of the fabric peice to pull the fibers from to get the shiny bright ones. the shiny ones go one way and the duller looking ones go another direction. I may show somw pics later, it's raining hard out there, and it's in the car.

Ok, I took a few pics of this fabric that I bought yeasterday that has a foil finish look to it, and the fibers come off of it real nice, they are single flat fibers which will work good. not sure what this material is called but it was right beside the pearlized sheer which is a see thru pearl type fabric.

ok, that was pics of blue alongside the silver, and green by itself, and red alongside the gol, and the pearlized sheer in crinkle finish pearl, the last two pics are of some fibers pulled from the foil type fabric and taped down flat for the pics. like ole Red said the pearlized sheer curls up after pulling the fibers out, the foil finish fibers lay flat and seem to be perfect for flash added to a jig. I also have a darker blue that came out too dark in the pic so I didn,t show it, but in person it is awsome. these fibers are in addition to the regular satin I bought earlier.

You guys got me going nuts on material now...LOL! I got some 2 inch wide satin ribbon that is working right now as I couldn't find a fabric shop and because of looking so hard and asking around I now have an appointment at a mom and pop fabric shop just a few minutes from me and they have 22 different shades of satin along with some other "metallic looking stuff the owner told me she told me she is going to show me. My wife took the credit card because she thinks I may come home with the entire store but that is just crazy talk...or is it?

I don't know which one catches more fish, but the cheap costume satin is real easy to tie with, the foil finish stuff, I just tied one with, is harder to handle as the fibers don't cling to themselves like the satin does. you only need about four fibers at a time because they are wider but you have to try to control all four of them while securing to the jig. for ease of tying I like the regular costume satin with a few peices of flashabou for flash, but it's still real early in the game as far as what will become a favorite combo.

Thanks for the pics and info!!!! Our so called Outdoors show is this weekend and if the same folks that had wool are there this year I might be able to snag some and they also have some that's dyed. Are you guys finding the natural better or are dyed colors good too???

Doug, I really liked the gray color wool that was dyed that color, seems to go with about any color satin, of course ya gotta have the natural too.
