I bought some 1/8 and 1/16 oz jigging spoons and painted them up today. I want to add flat stick on eyes to them. Should I put them on top, bottom or both sides? 1/8 is an inch long and the 1/16 are 3/4 inch. I removed the trebles and want to go with a single hook. Any suggestions ?? I plan on tying a fly or something on the single hook as an added attractant to the jig. New to jigging sppons and want to give them a shot. I'm thinking a #6 or #8 for the 1/8 and a #8- #10 on the 1/16. Anyone here use jigging spoons?

Nearly all the spoons I use have eyes on each side on the end you tye to the line. Single hook is ok, but I use a treble with bucktail tyed to it. Makes a difference in the fall. IMO

Treble no bucktail.....add additional split ring to any hook. During ice fishing season on the video camera I can see the hook get sucked into the mouth easier when you have additional split ring.

I've used longer/larger jigging spoons for bass like Kastmaster, Hopkins Shorty, and Cordell CC (slab). Some had dressed trebles and all had dimpled/hammered finishes except for the Kastmasters. Most were silver. Never fished any with eyes.

Eyes seem to help down south. I never fish a dressed hook as it kills the flutter action some. Now; under the ice i have no clue.

No eyes needed......In addition I tie a #10 or #12 about 4 to 5 inches above the spoon add spikes or waxies. On the Vexilar 20 during ice season you see the jig bring them in. The aggressive fish smash the spoon but others come in but go up for the single hook. I rig the hook drop shot style. I have increased spoon success by 50% with additional hook. I slaughter crappies on Lindy Spoon Red 1/16oz in color. The other killer is Custom Jig's spoon 1/16oz or 1/8oz. When you snap the spoon it is very aggressive and flutters back down almost vertical. Every hole punched starts with a spoon. Open water summer pattern and I take the Vexilar 20 with me!!!

JJ- what you are describing is what we call a search lure up here. As others have stated eyes don't seem to make much of a difference. But while I custom powder paint some of the silver spoons I sometimes add one 3-d eye. Just gives me more confidence in the lure.

One of my hottest color combos is the hot pink on the smallest Swedish Pimple. A number 12 or 1/12 oz however they are rated.
A #10 circle hook tipped with two maggots. Plain silver and gold works excellent also but make sure you have at least a couple of the hot pinks. Yellow perch really seem to key on that hot pink color. Other fish hit the pinkie too but for some reason the perch really love that color.
