So I'm trying to create a tail spinner, I have looked through the board here and have seen a few things, actually a post gave me the idea of this creation last night on a 1/2 oz walleye jig.

I'm not real happy with it and my buddy keeps telling me it is way to long.
So tonight I took another approach with this

I managed to pull it in another 1/2 inch, not sure if it will catch fish, but I'm going to give it a shot.
Any advise/help is more than welcome.

I think this jig will attract walleye but you may find you miss a lot due to short strikes. I suspect the spinner will tempt the fish to strike early. Let us know how it works.

Those look good.

I have had a few excellent days fishing the tail gunners in my river for bass... but have had other days where they would grab the spinner and that was it. If the fish are aggressive and pounding minnows at the surface, i use them. If they are shy, might miss a lot of fish.

With a small split ring and a small treble, you may be able to hang it on the tail end of the spinner and still have it spin…..???

Keep a scissors handy just in case the blade doesn't spin. Chances are a few strands might be keeping it from spinning. Definitely good baits to keep in the tackle box, very versatile.

Why too long, I have had Walleye cough up 8 inch Shad in the boat and the musky guys catch quite a few on their baits. I use 6 inch swimbaits and flukes pretty often below the local spillways with tremendous success. I think many fishermen make the mistake of thinking a Walleye is a timid fish that lurks in the shadows. When they are on the feed they will thump most anything they can get a hold of. Your baits aren't too big if used in certain situations. Just my 2 pennies worth:)
