Ya'll may laugh at me for this one , Almost forgot about this song , flipping channels stopped on a country channel for a bit and Bucky Covingtons "It was a differant world" came on , ya I watched and listened to the hole song and video , man was life good back then compared to what it is today .That song really hits home with me .

That depends entirely on who you were. Since the lyrics mention school prayer, which was abolished in 1962, I assume he's singing about the 50s. Life back then was pretty cruddy for a lot of people, particularly if they were minorities. Let's not forgot the less than stellar career choices for women, either.

I've never understood why people fondly remember the hazardous practices when they were a kid. Yeah, they may have survived, but a lot of people didn't, which was why the laws were changed. I passed an accident where a car flipped over last time I went fishing. If the car had no seat belts, the passengers would probably be dead. I've got nothing against nostalgia, but make sure those rose colored glasses aren't actually blinders.

He's singing about an age before he was actually born, because he's younger than me and I can assure you there were video games and satellite TV when I was a kid.

I remember back in junior high a teacher of mine told the class, "There is no time in history that is better than today."
