Finished cleaning 6 snapping turtles a while ago and as wife and I were packing the meat, Got to thinking Iron Chef America needs to have some real battles ie.. Battle Snapping Turtle, Battle Frog Legs, Battle Crappie.
Turtle is something I have eaten as long as I can remember but only know 2 ways to cook. Floured, Browned, then braised 4 or 5 hours in red wine and beef stock. Or finely chopped, sauted in butter with onions, add to a nice pot of turtle stew.
Pretty much the same with frog legs ecept, sauted in butter or battered/breaded and deep fried or pan fried.
I would truly enjoy watching those show off chefs catch and clean a nice fiesty 20# snapper then prepare it in 5 or 6 different ways.
Same with Frog legs but I do not think it would be as much entertainment as watching them battle a nice turtle! Maybe Jase Robinson could be a Judge,
Crappie could be fun watching them clean and prepare them in ways unimaginable to me. Have John Godwin as a Judge
I have sent Foodnetwork as suggestion and am awaiting their response. I even offered to give them the turtles. (Not allowed to sell them, but nothing about gifting them)
