This is probably going to be called cheating but I got my new issue of Fly Tyer and in one of the adds is something called Craw Body

http://flymenfishingcompany.org/products/fish-skull-products/crawbody/

There's is a suede type item, but I wanted to try it so I traced it on a piece of paper then onto orange 2mm foam as I didn't have any brown.

Good job FM. Steelhead would clobber those in a drift.

Tracing and cutting material is a crafty way to create jig/lure bodies.

Thanks Pup - I figure you probably have some of it, the tracing I did wasn't even close to what was on the page but I can see this pattern working for anyone.

Thanks for the link, very interesting materials. How thick was the foam sheets you used? I have a bunch of foam sheets gathering dust.

That has possibilities Fatman and I bet Pup could cut some of that leather he uses and make a craw and the dark color leather he uses would be perfect for the craw!!

When I saw the add I just had to try it. Wish I would have had some of Pup's leather, but my tracing and cutting skills leave a bit to be "Non-existent" LOL, but it was fun.
