Ran into a pack of Coyotes. Three spooked but the alpha (far right) just sauntered off. These guys are residing on a closed down golf course.

I use to run into a Coyote hiking the canyons back in the day.

But never 3. Could have been interesting if the fence wasn't there.

Wow, that is cool! Hear them around my house pretty often, but very rarely see them. Can't believe they would have stuck around at all if you had your dog with you.

Yep and they look well fed as well.

Better carry some sort of deterrent with you. Couple years ago had a close call with one of our cavaliers. He was at the back end of out 4 acre field chasing grasshoppers. I saw a dark shape about 20 feet from him and figuring it was my lab gave her a yell and no repsonse, a few choice mutteringss on my part and just I was getting ready for call #2, lab comes from behind me growling and making a bee line towards the back corner. It was a coyote in the back stalking the little guy. With the moving threat, the coyote disappeared. My movements around the pond had done nothing nor had my hollering.

The lab ate better that night than the coyote. My wife had seen the event from an upstairs window but did not realize what had almost happened.

I live on a 1.4 mile long road with 14 houses and everyone had 4-18 acres and the coyote was within 250 feet of 5 houses. I kill 2-3 a year always for cause and I've never left my porch or driveway. Many more have gotten away because there are only certain areas where a shot is safe.

hu - there is 4 - two on both sides and two in the middle. Had both Shepard's with me. Blanca is probably bigger than the alpha but Shea is a chicken.

Dont think your local county would like you carrying a piece lol

Now in VA, a conceil carry permit is a no brainer.

That fence doesn't run forever and those coyotes would have no trouble going around it into the neighborhood. Wondering if the city knows they are there, they are definitely a threat. If you saw four there's more.

Led ... get one of those cheap walking staffs and sharpen the tip to a fine point ;-)

Decent knife in a self defense slashing move would work too. Betcha you can find one that opens 'quick' south of the border.

I always have something for self defense on the kayak floats I take, and fortunately WV has recipricating rights.

We don't take pictures of them we dispatch them. When you live as far back in the woods as we do you take them out before the eat anymore pets,Chickens or cattle than they do. We have started to hear them running deer out in the wildlife refuge. Can't shoot them in there but on my land they are fair game.

There's a pack back there Jim. Not sure what it's going to take for the city to do something about it...

Yeah George got the walking staff now

Thnx Ronnie - didn't realize you guys had a big problem with them too

Tails make some good jigs also Redman. We're on the outside of the city - no shooting.

Led one of the reasons that I live in the country. We don't call 911 we are 911. We hear shooting all the time and pay no attention to it. No one ever gets hurt and you get so used to it that we take it for granted. Think some times that the boyz in the Hood would get a little spooked with all the guns going off. With both Teal and Dove season going on down here every morning we wake to the sound of gun fire. Lols!!!!!!!!!!
