I've been snookered into believing that the massive banking bailouts were necessary to save our economy, among other things. Iceland's economy tanked along with ours back in '08, and I wasn't aware that they chose a solution that seems to have worked better than ours.

Not a money person but our economy was in the outhouse anyway. They should have just let the banks FAIL!!!!!!! probably would've hurt for a while but a whole lot less ripoff of the taxpayer

After about 20 seconds my mind started drifting, so I clicked on one of the related videos on the left.

Extream cheerleading & gymnastics.

At first, I started to feel like a pedophile until the girls started going through their maneuvers, and then I felt pain. Ow, that must hurt! And to be motivated to put their bodies in a situation to receive that much pain, I felt the coaches were sadistic.

Mind's still wandering.

Oh, and you can't jail all the bankers because they are running the country.

Well, I Googled "prosecute Wall St. bankers" and indeed they are above the law with the help of the present admin Atty Gen, Justice Dept., all the way to the top. The former corporate raider tax dodger pres candidate was an obvious tool, but it seems Mr. Hope & Change was just better at concealment. Is there no hope to stop bleeding the working class into filthy rich pockets?

When the public starts to lose confidence in the financial community and want to keep there money close. When that happens the Stock market will start to go down and then them Rich bankers will show that all they have is fancy paper with nothing to back it up. That is the failing of fractional banking. Right now Helicopter Ben ( Federal Reserve System ) is the only thing that is hold every thing together. You can't spend or print yourself in to prosperity. That's been tried many times always with a bad outcome. The dollar is your pocket is only backed by a promise by the FED And they keep printing more which make every dollar that you have worth less. Think about it Argentina, Greece,Iceland, and Ireland.

But what do I know I just a old Cranky Geezer. Keep your powder dry You will need it to paint jig heads to feed your families.

I try not to speak my political mind and ideals very often. I have to agree with most of what is being said. For any of you that are truly interested check out "The Obama Deception" on youtube. This video really opened my eyes to how our government sets us all up to fail. I am no conspiracy theorist but have begun to rethink the ways of our leaders and their allegences. I served our country in the military as a combat engineer and believe I and every other taxpaying American have the right to question where our leaders are taking us. They have played us the fool for far too long. I will stop there before I get going. Watch and listen to this video very carefully.

OK, before I invested almost 2 hours of non-existent "spare" time to check out "The Obama Deception" I investigated reviews, many of which debunked the OD as irresponsible & paranoid. So, I figgered I'd watch a few minutes of right wing racist bash and then tune out in disgust. Despite myself I was compelled to watch the OD to the end and suffice to say my outlook on things has changed.

Keith I don't need to watch a video to tell me what has been going on. I have had all most six year to observe what has been going on. As we say in Deep East Texas " Don't wet on my leg and tell me it's raining" We know the difference.

Actions speak louder than words. Some people lead others follow some build others destroy. Ether lead follow or get out of the way. This crowd doesn't want to lead or build. Just make their situation in life better while the rest of us suffer. It's true Actions do speak louder than words. Case Closed!!!!!!

One thing that my Grandfather always told me is not to lie. He said that lies have to be covered up but truth can run around naked all day. Sorry I thought that it was relevant to this subject.

Redman, I agree that the words of others only become truths when personally experienced. I'm a bit behind and watching TOD was a good start for me. I think the only recourse left to most of us is to nurture a personal awareness of truth and hope we're not alone.

Hahaha, the best among us can cloak wisdom with humor. Your Grandfather would be appalled that nothing generated by mass media or government PR is believable anymore.

Knock knock...... Who's there?..... Reality...... Go away, i'm busy. :exclamation:

Not aimed at anyone in this discussion - just dang near every other no-brainer i meet in a days time. The general population as a whole (not just the politicians) makes me scratch my head anymore. Maybe it's just me getting older and closer to the cranky geezer club. sigh

Yup, ignorance WAS bliss. Truth, or the illusion thereof, is addicting and not necessarily comforting.

So, maybe you youngsters would be better off ignoring the geezer banter.

Hmm... Iceland is somewhat different. They have a population of about 300.000 or so, thats a medium-sized city where I come from. People know each other. If Haakan has a son called sven, then Sven´s last name (=family name) is Haakanson. Svenja Haakansdottir if female. If you´re head of the nations only big bank, take a private loan at the bank you run, , buy your own banks stocks, and then make the bank you run buy those stocks back at an unfavourable price with the bank going bankrupt in the process, people will notice and get mad at you. If you´r head of state and cover up for that guy, same for that.

At the same time, if home owners loans are noted in U.S.$ while repayment has to be brought up in icelandian currency, if somebody screws up the exchange rate by such obviously illegal action, its hard to blame the home owners alone.

The longer I think about it, the more I get the impression that the only difference lies in the size of the society which makes it easier for the people involved to see the strings attached.
