Well sort of this dude weighed 14 # and fought like a runaway freight train. He jumped on my little ultralight whilst I was in the middle of some gills. # 12 hook tipped with one maggot makes ya wonder why he bothered with something so small.

After this and your last recent trip you have become a true 'rough' fisher! :P On ice spoons and jiggin' raps none the less. haha! Those are a blast to hook in to on light gear. They usually have more than one fast/line stripping runs from the get go and sure don't like it when they get in close and see you..... starts all over again.

You had your fun with the carp, hope you caught yourself a meals worth of gills.

AF- One thing I can attest to is that Okuma reels have some fine drags on them. This is same reel I caught that big flathead on last year. This carp had several long distance runs in him. The drag operated as smooth as silk. Never hung up even for an instant. I use Okuma reels for spinning exclusively now and they haven't yet made me sorry in 5 years. Still like my Abu -Garcias for casting reels though.

I caught this hopper while a family of four was launching their boat. They all had to rush over in mid-battle to see what the fish was. Even the kids lost interest as soon as they seen what it was LOL
