Even if you do not ice fish or can't you will want to have in your arsenal.
I know this critter works , on certain days will even outfish the pinmins. Historically I have caught the following species on it crappie , gills ,perch in high numbers and some odd ball non- target species but fewer of them. Channel and bullhead catfish , carp, white bass.
It is tied on a # 12 bronze jig head using monofilament to tie. This will give it that translucent effect. I take two flash beads and wire together for eye set.
Leave wire loose enough to insert hook twist loose ends of wire together to form a " tail " so that you can wrap it to hook shank. Position bead on each side of hook. Now use the mono to wrap in place. Next take a real short and sparse pinch of rabbit or mink and tie in tail. Fill out with mono to give it a slight buggy appearance.. Now coat with clear nail polish and let dry. Next give a little brush and tap with glitter silver nail polish. Finally another coat of clear and let dry.
Can be used just as is. I like to tip with one maggot just to give it some smell. Can be used in tandem with bigger lure either above the bigger lure or below it.
Can be done in many colors and all work but the gray mink tail and the pink head eyes are my favorite.
