Got my Otter sled out and decided to make an ice bass boat out of it. Got a 7 gallon bucket to sit on and a 6 gallon bucket for bait. Topped with gamma seals. The 7 gallon is for my long legged butt to sit on. Them 5 gallons are just too short. The sit on bucket will also be for tackle storage. Next got two milk crates one short and one tall. The short one stows my 4 jaw jackers and serves as a base for tall crate which I modified to tote the Nils six inch. Then mounted rod holders and one ice scoop holder for my rig. Can lift and stow entire rig in back of my Honda Pilot by myself. The two aluminum cross bars provide handy handles for lifting.

To finalize modification maybe an OGF sticker and a Jigcraft sticker and a " papaperch " decal :-)

That is sweet... everything has a home. Really like the milk crate idea. Was planning to add some PVC rod holders to an extra bucket, but going to find some crates instead i think. My poles are always an awful mess every trip and would be cool if i could figure a way to keep my auger more steady going up and down the banks. Can't do much modifying to the big jet sled i use..... it is the kids favorite sled for the hills! You can fit 3 kids in it and really fly down a hill. :D I've already made a few adjustments to the sled on my single flip shanty.

9 rods, 4 jawjackers......... what boy scout troop are you taking out on the ice with that arsenal? haha Something tells me that it's not all your ice rods either.

To the untrained eye or newbie ice fisher person. The rig may perhaps look over equipped. But I like being prepared which is a boy scouts motto.

1- blade rod or mostly any artificial bait rod. Swedish pimples . kast masters. sonars
1- dead stick rod to be used when blade rod is being worked, sometimes lure draws them in and they smack a live bait.
4- rods for the jawjackers. Regulations allow for 5 but I rarely use more than 2.
2- ultra finesse rods with one with 3.3 tectan the other 4.4 tectan. For days when they are ultra fussy.
2- standard ultra light for all around pan fishing. Spooled with 6 lb. Sometimes with sliding bobber.

These are all needed " just in case ". Most of the scenarios I envision never happen but if they ever do I will be ready.

For a total of ten rods . Regulations permit only two at time may be used. I do adhere to that. There was one that was not in pic.
There are approximately twice that number of ice rods hanging on my fishing tackle garage back wall. I fear my obsession is even worse when looking at my open water rod collection. Was reading one of Sonnys post and next thing I know I am buying a Mebaru rod from Japan. Sonny was right they are a load of fun.

If fishing rods harmed your body like drugs. I would have died at 30 years of age. My lawyer said its the simplest Will & Testament he ever made out. " Sorry everyone I spent it all on fishing equipment. "

With you on that obsession Papa. I have more rods than I can count.

And just built another.

Nice to be prepared. A motto the boy scouts taught me too.

Think i am up to 6 ice rods now and have a similar method to my own (slightly lesser) madness. 2 of the rods are actual store bought ice rods that are super light and short panfish rods that are always rigged up with my lightest jigs. The other 4 are recycled. 2 are tip sections from lightweight spinning outfits and usually rigged with slightly heavier jigs or light spoons. I tend to use these 'middle of the road' rods the most for hair jigs and are my favorites with hand carved wood handles. Last 2 rods are tip sections from medium weight spinning rods and usually rigged up with heavier kastmasters or dropshot rigs for pounding bottom or deadstick bait.

Oh.... and let me know if you need another JigCraft.com sticker. I will sell you one for a blade bait. :P Or maybe cheaper. I have an OGF sticker waiting to go on my sled as well.
