I wonder what the poor bunnies are doing this season?

Yeah I bought a couple scrap bags at Cabela's a while back and a pack of razor blades. Bolted 5 blades with a nut between them and an hour later I have a winters supply of zonkers. I'd like to try dying the frosted tips some day. It surely can't be that difficult.

I know you can get tanned rabbit hides from Moscow Hide and Fur company (located in Idaho) for around nine dollars apiece, if you buy white hides you could then dye them. A large hide could be cut up and dyed several colors and be soft I think. Admintly I've never tried this. Any comments? By the way those jigs are super nice ties!

Gary - not sure!! I've always heard they have to be dyed before being cured - but I don't know how to soft tan so I'm not sure. I'll do some looking and see if I can find anything about it.

I fish long zonker strips a lot. When they dry out after fishing, the skin/leather gets dried out and stiff. Takes a little working with your fingers of the leather to get it soft again........ or just toss it in the water and once it soaks in, pretty much back to normal. Would think that you could dye a whole/half/quarter hide and, it get stiff after wards, then just take some work over the edge of a board to soften the leather back up. Never tried it though. Spirit River has some crazy tip dyed and double barred colors.

Very nice jigs. I still cannot fish without a 1/32 black zonker jig. It has been my main producer for the past two months.
