Good video - the criss cross thread base is a good technique for new tiers to pick up as it really helps keep the hair tight on the hook.

Cleaning out the loose hairs from the cut off the tail I use an old mustache comb, it's quicker than picking them by hand.

That is a very informative and detailed video with some great tips. It is interesting the way you finish the tie. I have always used a hand whip finish but yours seems to work very well.
Thanks,

Thanks everyone for the feedback. The video was done on a whim with no pre-planning. I did get a pm question on length of time it takes to tie - I typically am able to tie 3-4 dozen per hour; depending on colors used, quality of tail, etc...

Fatman - I brush my tails as well. What I am pulling out is the short under-hair found on many northern bucktails, that layer which is there for warmth. I didn't really show in the video but I cut my pinch close to the hide.

Barefoot - The way I finish off the collar is pretty quick and adds no more time than whip finishing once you get used to it (same with whip finish). An additional benefit of finishing off the collar in such a manner allows my to 'sculpt' the collar so it looks uniform and has a pleasant looking cone shape without bulking up on the thread.

Nice video. Do you tip those with livebait when your fishing for walleye?

Yes, crawlers or minnows work great. I am thinking of doing one on how to ad a stinger hook.

See the link below for a possible solution.

Google Search

I don't have experience with any version of Ipad and its OS. Otherwise, I might recommend a solution for you. There appears to be several links to discussions covering your type of issue.

Good luck.

You can go in and check your apps to see if there is one for allowing youtube. When Google Chrome dumped the Java app lots of programs would no longer work in Chrome.
