So what do you think of the hot pot II for lead pouring on a fairly small scale? Has anyone used one and know how well they hold up, and how well that it melts the lead?

They hold up for years . Just don't set them on metal surfaces that retain heat . It sucks it out of the pot and it will keep trying to heat until the element burns out . I killed mine by setting it on a cold cast iron stove in the winter .

Certain Do-it small jig head molds won't pour with tilt ladles. For those you need the melt drop pressure of a bottom pour.

Lee bottom pour hot pot. It will be worth the money and you can put the lead where you want it to go. I make large jigs most of the time and use a ladle and use a Lee magnum melter with a 3" large ladle. The smaller stuff I still use my bottom pur hot pot.
I hope this helps.
