Hook help

New to jig making. purchased this mold to make some small mouth jigs.

Round Head Jig - Tapered Barb Collar - RHB-8-18

the mold calls for Eagle Claw 570 or 575 hooks. I am not a fan of eagle claw hooks, Is there better hooks I can use to make my jigs.

I am trying to make jigs similar to the ones butch neal used to make. What size wire would I use for the weed guard

Welcome from West Texas. Matzuo prolly has the sharpest hook out there. Some of our lead pourers can help ya better than I can. If ya need to know how to loose em then I can give ya lots of advice...

Never saw a butch neal jig or even heard of him.

For hooks you can use any 90 Degree bend jig hook you want. Mustads, Owners, Gami's, Matzuo's. don't count out the Eagle Claws the new Black Pearls are getting really good reviews.

Without having seen one I don't know what to tell you about the wire guards, or how they were attached. If you can post a pic of one that would help. I searched on his name and shop and nothing came up with any pictures
