I haven't shown many pictures of my cooker, not that its a big secret just figured most folks use gas. It can be incorperated into the land scape many ways. Mines simple and redneck, my neighbors is really cool with a hand winch and rock back drop...Here we go
Picture of the whole deal
The pully system attaches to the expanded metal with chains for strength
And goes thru the top with a small cable
And attaches to one of the uprights with this deal
I have a hole in the ground and a tractor rim buried. You can use a third of a 55gal. drum but they rot out after a few seasons. But you need to use something to keep the sides of the hole from caving in.
Here is a shot of the pully system to raise and lower the grill. The nice thing about this is you can start cooking sooner or thaw out your meat.
Here is a shot of the lock. The weight of the grill and meat locks the pull in place and doesn't slip... Really!
Grill all the way up
Grill all the way down
And in action
Just something about a fire for cookin that makes the extra effort worth it... IMO
