Did you get hit by the big lake effect storm??? Cheektowaga NY has 51 inchs already and that's just Round 1. My Dad lives in Medina, NY 45 mins north of there and they have NOTHING!!!! They might pick up some from Round 2 but nothing like the Southern Tier.

So Glad I left Buffalo in 1983, I did get to experieince at that time the greatest single 12 hour snow fall of 31". Was fortunate to get stuck at work and had a great boss that gave me 48 hours pay for the two days I was snowed in.

The lake effect snow (for the most part) misses my location, unless there is a straight North or North East (clipper) wind. Am located about an hour straight south of Sandusky/Cedar Point..... or the Bass Islands that are pretty easy to reference on a map.

We got only 2" of snow at most. Sure got the cold though. Another inch or 2 tomorrow is in the forecast, but the dang wind has been the brutal part. Area schools already delaying for tomorrow morning from the forecast wind chill factors. Black ice caused a bunch of accidents on Monday night and the salt on the road doesn't help much when it is this cold.

On the plus side, ICE on my pond for 2 days now! :) BUT......... they are also calling for 50° and rain this weekend, so it will still be a while before i can walk on water.

Reading some of the stories coming out of Buffalo....... came across this picture someone posted from Lancaster, NY. I like their way of thinking.

Just talked to Buddy in Buffalo, He is not sure how much snow he actually got only said that backside of his house is almost to the roof. Took over a day to get his 300' driveway cleared off so he can get to the road which is still covered. He said when it first started and had 10" he started his snowblower (Tractor Mounted) and cleared a path to the road. By the time he turned around and got back to the house, side already cleared was covered and needed hit again.

Told me that in the 50 years he has been there nothing ever came close. Although he has underground utilities, his generator is running and he is not sure sure how much power is out only knows he has 2 weeks of fuel left and his normal 12 cords of firewood.

So if you got any buddies in that part of the world, hive em a call and wish them luck!

Snow that deep is dangerous in another way - any vents have to be cleared out. My Uncle is in Hamburg NY and he's buried, another in Oakfield and Batavia have less but still everything is shut down. Haven't heard from my other Uncle yet.

Man those poor folks are getting hammered again!!!!! Cheektowaga from the first batch had 65"!! and they're talking another 18-24 through tomorrow, on top of the 10+ they've gotten so far today. Sunday they're concerned about flooding because the temps are supposed to be anywhere from 45-55 degrees and an inch of rain!!
