Hello everyone.
I look forward to learning and sharing with everyone. I am new to the art of jig tying. I recently bought a Do-it jig mold and been having fun with that. It is the "H" mold 3/8 oz. to 1 oz. I've also been playing around with some store bought, unpainted jig heads. My primary fishing spot is B. Everett Jordan Lake followed by Shearon Harris Lake.

Welcome to JigCraft. Jump in with us and enjoy.
I worked at Sharron Harris nuclear plant and lived in Fuquay and Coats back in the early 80's. Really liked it there. Met a lot of good people that became great friends while living there. My oldest daughter started to school in Coats, now she is about to turn 33, dang the years fly by! I don't guess that old school is still housing K-12th grade. My second daughter was born in Raleigh in 84.
Harris was a good lake to fish back then so it has to have some great fishing now. Nice boat :)

Harris and Jordan are very good for largemouths and crappie. Jordan used to be good for stripers. The past two summers have taken a very serious toll on the population. Just last summer, biologists estimate six to eight thousand stripers succumbed to "thermal squeeze" Fortunately there is an active (14,000/year) stocking program. If we get a couple of moderate summers in a row there is a good chance they'll rebound. As for right now, what appears to be left is small and far and few in between. Heck, the Jordan Lake Striper Club's last two tournaments brought in NO fish!!! And that has never happened before in the history of the club. :(

Thanks for the compliment on the boat. One of my more costly hobbies. I love building boats. Especially wooden boats. Just wish I had more time and money to persue it. This last one, "Old's Cool" is a deviation for me. I bought it used as a bare hull (aluminum) with no motor and just stripped it, gutted it, and rebuilt it to my design in a no nonsense, workboat fashion. No fancy brass or chrome. It's a perfect lake/inshore fishing boat for me. I was born and raised on the Great Lakes and this was a common design up there. It'll handle worse weather than I care to be out in. That's good enough for me. Wife and kids love it too. :)
