I was thinking the ---chigan was a reference to Michigan.
Smallies are ferocious no doubt, got to love 'em.
I do know your area - actually spent a few days of vacation last year tooling around at John Bryan, Clifton Gorge, and Buck Creek state parks. Our main stop was the Ohio Caverns, but Cedar Bog Nature Preserve just North of there was a cool little place too! Saw lots of promising smallmouth waters in Springfield but did not bring my rod along.
