Hi!

these 2-3oz badboys are on their way to norway now, for field testing on chicken halibut, specimen cod and pollock.
Haven´t got proper H-type molds yet so I used the cheap pirated stuff they sell over here for the prototypes. Still good enough to gather some dremel-experience in order to accept a 10/0 VMC Barbarian.
Same with the wire rope crimps and steel rings that take the place of oversized beads that I haven´t found yet, its all about testing a pattern.

The fat bellies are made of palmered rabbit stripes, the slim ones with selfmade dubbing brush, a coffee-milled blend of manly craft fur and some flash. Gave them about a half inch of selfcut Zonker strip for an appealing silhouette.

I'll bet if they were a little more bulky, they'd work good for musky and pike up here in the north woods. hmmmm.... you have my gears spinning now.... good looking jigs although you may have cost me 40 bucks for a new mold and more for some zonker strips and new hooks! Lol.

Rabbit is perfect with those, those are way bigger than what I normally throw. If the props spin than those will catch something, I'm sure.

Look for a sheet metal pop rivet they make some pretty big ones . Then just knock out the stud use it behind the blade . might work . What I used once when I ran out of buzz bait rivets .

What mold is that? reminds me of an ultra minnow, but looks a little different.

Thats a knock-of from a Do-it Style H Jig - PGH-3-L, I asume. Depending on the outcome, I will get some of those, together with a smaller one in the 1/2 to 1 oz range that works just fine for the baltic sea.

While I love the banana jigs for my own fishing, I found that when I give them away people have a strong tendency to get :skunked: with them. My fellow german spin fishermen are almost hard-wired to maintain lure contact at all times, not letting the jig dive in a sharp drop like they should be.

The Style H and the chub jigs are more forgiving in this respect.

The rabbit I buy in whole skins from "the rabbit guy", so I can cut my own strength of strips. In this case, they´r finger-thick in order to cast a fat silhouette that would make even a grown-up flattie rise a few feet.

Those jigs are neat. I look forward to a fish report after your friend goes out and catchs a lot of fish on your jigs.
The maps in the pictures that the jigs are laying on are kind of interesting also.

Just called the guy who tested them in norway - they did alright, but not better than any other lure. No tailing in, good activation of the rabbit from the propeller, normal corosion etc.

Must say I´m a bit disapointed its not the halibut lure I hoped it would be, but on the other hand its good to know the pattern does what it is supposed to do so I can make use of it for other aplications with lighter heads s.a. northern pike or party boat cod fishing.

Fur should have more fluff jiggle than hair, and hopefully won't have a prop fouling problem.

Guess you'll find out if light wire Sickles will survive salt water battles.

Lets just say that meanwhile i think very differently about those Mustads you recommended. The huge sickles were the only ones in that size I had at the time. I bought them with smaller baltic cod in mind, they are labeled 6/0 but as you can see they´re as big as a 10/0 VMC Barbarian.

I´m still looking for a supplier of decent Mustads or Gamis in the 6/0 to 12/0 range.
