We got a new Hawaiian BBQ joint in town and made my first visit this evening. Have tried lots of styles of fried rice before, but had my first Bacon fried rice tonight. BRAVO !!

Had a pretty good short rib dish too. I'll experiment with some of the spam entree's one of these days ;)

Actually, "Hawaiian" barBQ has a Japanese & Korean origin - the base marinade is equal parts shoyu(aka soy sauce) + sugar. Flavor embellishments include garlic, ginger, & sesame oil singly or in various combos per preferences. Chili pepper water is a favored post garnish.

The short ribs version is called "Kalbi" and is my & the missus fave eat out. Besides bacon, the local fried rice flavor is a drizzling of shoyu while cooking and chopped green onions garnish.

Any of you gents like them mountain oysters?
