Toad- best place to buy used camera is on Ebay. The pix I post on here are with a Sony DSC-H10. Picked it up on Ebay for well under 50.00. Don't remember exact price. I have always used Sonys and they have all done me well. Never bought new either always used.

Only time one ever went bad on me is because it fell out of pocket and bloop right in the lake. Any brand camera if you stay under 10 megpixels you should get one fairly economically. I am no shutterbug so a big old expensive camera is the last thing I need myself.

If you do decide to get a sony try and get one with a Zeiss lens. Seems like they are top knotch. for me.

I think the 2 most important things are lighting & holding the camera still. I take all my pictures with the 8 megapixel camera in my HTC Smartphone & I think most of my photos turn out pretty good. Not great but if the shadows are eliminated & the background is fairly neutral & I can hold the phone still, the results are acceptable......to me anyway.

Guess I'll give flea bay a shot . I picked up a tripod because I always manage to jostle it somehow . Can't hold anything still for very long . Found shadow boxes to be a help as well as track lighting .
Gonna check out the sony jobs . Thanks guys

The two most important things i would look for is that it has a Macro function to take close-up pics and a timer.

Don't worry about the megapixels unless you are planning to have high quality pictures printed over 8" x 10". My camera is 4.0 megapixel and is over kill for posting pictures on the internet but can get pretty decent prints up to 8" x 10". Anything larger and you can start to see the pixels if you have good eyes.

I agree with AF. I use a 5.0 MP camera and prefer it to my 12 MP camera, simply because I've used it more. Pictures of subjects taken with both cameras reveal no significant differences online which is another reason for my preference.

Joe's Old Lures Message Board is another web site where I might check for a used camera. You can use the search feature (keyword: camera) to potentially find one listed. Or, you could make a WTB (Wanting To Buy) post for a used camera for lure photography. Expect contact by post and/or e-mail. I think that you could be very pleasantly surprised by a response.

10-4 on Sony cams, the older ones anyway. My dinosaur was one of the first digital cams available, and it just refuses to die, now on its 4th computer for uploads. Expensive in its day, don't think you could give one away now.

Yah, for posting pics online, MPs aren't critical - mine is only .33 but it does have auto macro.
