The inlaws have been especially interested in this one.......MIL has some direct McCoy lines, but FIL claims some Hatfield ties.Ive heard stories for years, even Mrs Rad was born in W Va.....
Looks like I will have to watch it tonight ... these series things leave you hanging .. Not quite as bad as the old Saturday Serials at the Movies did.
I think I need to read up on the H & M s and get kinda current on them.
First two hour was entertaining as all get out. Could not believe that two hours went by so quickly. Long time ago I did a thesis on the feudin and a fussin amongst our hill folk. Was amazed at the complicated situations that led to bloody results sometimes over the most trivial matters.
My premature review would be best mini-series since " Lonesome Dove ". Also to dismiss these feuds in our history as a bunch of backwoods hicks being stupid. My research for my thesis showed that they were people just like any other. They possessed a lot of man's higher qualities and also some of the basest. I think the series is trying to show how basically good people can be used by the self centered on both sides.
Tom Berringer plays a good Vance boy, Jim Vance. Lol. No relation, I hope. I saw on the Internet where it was filmed in Romania where there aren't power lines and paved roads.
Really enjoyed the series...As I mentioned earlier, have some direct ties through the inlaw's and all agree its very historically accurate other than the scenery..
Mrs Rad ,,,who grew up in within a few miles of where all this happened, said since day one, its is close, but not quite right....
