Not sure if its a bobber, a planer board or what, got me thinking though, it make be a way to get a tiny jig out in the tree tops just out of casting range when bank fishing.

People here use mini planers for a stationary presentation of their very heavy catfisch bobbers in the current. Bear in mind that anything with a decent performance will cause too much drag for use as a slide bobber, which leaves you with a problem if you want to get your jig somewhat close to the bottom.
Tried a similar product, the "bullet bobber" and couldn´t find any worthwile application for it since the planer performance was too low.

From trolling use in my kayak and the canal, I can recommend both the zebco black cat as well as the sidewinder. Both are somewhat managable with sturdy spin fishing gear but still have a decent planing performance with small lures.
