Bit the bullet and bought powder paint from Harbor Freight.
Red[nice], Yellow[ugly], and Black[PITA mistake]. The red and yellow are fluffy as other powder paint ~~~ THE BLACK was hard as a rock and had chunks the size of Ping-Pong balls. I should have closed the jar and taken it back. Being a hard head I broke it up and pored it out on an old baking pan, grabbed a large metal soup spoon and started to grind. 1 ½ hours later I was down to a lot of powder and a heck of a bunch of black rocks the size that I have to find a way to sift out and regrind I see a trip to HD for some EXTRA FINE MESH WIRE, unless someone has a better idea. What I really need is a compounding bowl and grinder [mortar and pestle] like a pharmacy uses.
IDEAS WELCOME

Oh no. Well~~~ I haven't lost much & learned a lesson. I guess that I'll put it a fluid bed and scoop up the good stuff re grind the crap and repeat as needed or until I surrender. ~~ :)

Best thing to do since you just got it, Put it back in the jar and take it back!!!!!!!!! You'll save yourself alot of grief and aggravation!!!!!!!!! With the sales going on at Rosy's you could get a lb. of really nice black and be alot happier!!!!!!!!!!!

You got a batch that was exposed to heat, they will take it back and exchange it or refund you. The yellow looks just like the protec yellow, in fact I like the HF yellow a little better than protec but for a good yellow I just mix it with 25% white. I leave it alone and it works great as a mustard, one of my better swim jig patterns is hot mustard with the HF yellow on the bottom with a brown back and some orange on the belly! The black is matte, in order to make it gloss you either need to coat it with epoxy after your done with it or you mix in about 30% super gloss clear and you'll get a good gloss black but any time you get powder and it is hard and clumpy, not soft clumps but hard ones you need to really break apart, don't even fuss with it, just take it back and that is with any brand because it was exposed to heat. I only order from Columbia coating in the spring, fall, and winter because I got powder from them in the summer once and every single color was like that, I called them up and they told me it was in a really hot place too long so they sent me new stuff, but it was sent overnight so it wouldn't be in heat for a long time and it was good.
