My wife had the bottom of her shoe blow out so we had to go to the mall and watching her pick out shoes is worse than watching garss grow, my God how many times does a woman have to look at the same pair of shoes before they decide to buy them. Anyway, since the store she was at had a 20% sale on shoes I figured with the price that would mean I would have at least 10 bucks I could spend so I went out of the store and walked about 100 yards to the Harbor Freight store to look around and I was in luck, they just restocked the powder paint and I got 2 lbs of matte black at $4.99 a lb was fantastic so I got it home, mixed a half pound of it up with a 1/4 pound of super gloss clear powder and now I got a really deep black powder paint with 1 and a half pouds left as a spare, awesome place harbor freight!!

smalljaw- I remember my mother dragging me all over Warren Ohio back in the 1950's. She would go into every shoe and clothing store they had. Often as not she would return to the first store and buy the first thing she had looked at. Needless to say she cured me of going shopping with a woman.

My wife has long since quit asking me to go to the mall. When she rolls her eyes at a new purchase of fishing equipment. I open her closet and start counting her shoes. I never get to the end of them as she throws me out of her closet. To be fair I could probably stock several small bait shops with tackle. But believe this or not when my youngest daughter got married. She bought undyed shoes then had a shoemaker dye them to match her peach colored dress perfectly. She wore them that one time been in the closet every since. that was well over 20 years ago. I never knew the total cost as she told me I would pop a blood vessel.

All that just to tell you nice score.

Smalljaw - $5 a pound sounds like a steal. Even a single pound of black would last me..... well, maybe forever? I use it often, but seems to be one of the easiest colors to work with to keep a nice thin coat - mine is ProTech though and never used the Harbor Freight brand.

Ok papaperch........ if said shoe store was across the mall from a Harbor Freight, craft shop, or other form of shop we hi-jack for our fishing addiction...... would you still refuse to go? Eh? Something tells me you might reconsider.

The only problem with Harbor Freight powder is it only comes in 4 colors, matte black, white, yellow, and red. The other problem is the black is matte black but if you want gloss black then just mix in some glossy clear at about 1/3 clear to 2/3 color and it should come out great. I have a lot of white yellow and red so all I got was the black because that I use a lot of but it is a great way to get some powder without breaking the bank so you can experiment with mixing.
