Hit the lake yesterday afternoon and for the first three hours the fishing was very slow. About 4:00 I hit a stretch close to 400 yards long and caught fish like a fire-drill til 5:30 when I put up the rods to get the boat loaded before dark hit. It was a blast, caught some nice crappie, bass, striper and a ton of white perch. I didn't keep the bass but the other fish put their lives on the line when they bit the jigs!!
Few pics. Both bass were caught on a 12' rod using #6 line. Those were a lot of fun!!

I was using reg jigs and horse heads. The horse heads were working the best but I lost about all I had with me hanging the bottom. Was longlining 1/8 in 16 to 25' water and had to keep the jigs as close to the bottom as I could and every time I came across a hump I would hang 3 or 4 jigs. Lost close to 20 jigs yesterday but that is one of the reasons I started pouring my own!!!!:D After I run out of the 1/8 jigs I went to using two 1/16 but had to slow down the speeds to keep with the bottom. Those perch are tying to take over the lakes around here and there is no limit on them now as the DNR want them gone but some are getting close to the 2 pound mark and they put up a great fight... Caught close to 70 perch and kept 54, took a long time this morning cleaning fish...

Woohoo! That's a great catch.

Think it was the shad keeping them in that stretch or they just turned on for ya?
Regardless, bet you'll head there first thing next trip out.

Thx for sharing, I miss fishing.

Adam, It was more of the way the lake bottom does. It is a transfer from 20 or so foot deep to 35' deep and has an wooden trestle about mid depth. You don't find them biting like that on most trips but when you do and can get your bait to the right depth hold on!

I had 8 rods running out the back (at .08 mph) and when that pic was taken six of the rods had fish on em. You should see the mess when one of those fish decided to run sideways :beat-up: still a lot of fun.

Great job !!!!!!!!!!!! I love those days when you get a mixed bag like that. That's why I like fishing rivers so much, If I try to guess what I'm going to catch next I'd be wrong 80% of the time.
