GREAT JIGS
lets talk more about this style of fishing, it has me interested a lot. I fish a lot with my small daughters and trolling or drifting is preferred due to ease.

Moswampy.....16ft BnM trolling rods on spider rigs starting this weekend (just switched was lighter rigs using 16ft Ozark Rods for spider rig and different line rigs). Pre-rig lines snap swivel on bottom about 12" up tie 1/8oz spinner and about 18" up tie 1/16" reg tie jig about 12" up tie barrel swivel. Have 10 to 12 pre-rigged on the foam floats from WalMart you get for the kiddy pool. Have rigged on rods and ready once at the lake snap on 2oz or 3oz bell weights and push!
Drifting I use 2 16ft rods with 1 1/16oz jig next in line is 12ft rods with 1/16oz and third rod is 8ft rod with 1/16 oz. Varies considerable based on your imagination and the position of the fish. Drifting pending on the boat I am using will either be off the front or behind the steering wheel. Line out also depends on conditions. Crappie.com under Mississippi forum has a lot of good info same concept but for cranks (ran out of funds to play hard with cranks this year only dabble).

Those are super nice! Is that a size #1 clevis?, and what size hook? Just wondering how you size the wire diameter up with the clevis. Guess it would be hit and miss!

Muskgary.....Correct #1 and using a #1 hook but also work on my 1/16 #4 hooks. Thanks

Moswampy.....longer the rods the more pains. I would use 14 ft and be done. Just bought 16ft's last year. Further away from the boat is one theory. Another trick.....add a 5mm bead between the last eye and the tip. You start to run rods and looking left and maybe hear the bead jiggle and realize "hey look right you have a fish dummy!".

Also run the new driftmaster rod locker for spider poles....absolute love it!
