Wife taking me to Gettysburg end of this month for birthday. I have read volumes of books about the battle but this will be first time I have seen actual locale of famous battle.

Early on in life became addicted to military history and in particular the American Civil war. On the war itself it would probably take a good sized warehouse to hold all the books I have absorbed on it.

Anyway going to spend three days there and hope I don't miss anything there.

Enjoy yourself. I've been there several times and am always humbled by what happened on those grounds. Walking the battleground and thinking how many men were wounded dead or dyiing where you are walking is an incredible experience. Having a knowledge of the battle and Civil War history in general makes it an awesome place to visit.

BTW take a side trip to Colonial Williamsburg.

Gettysburg's cool. You'll dig it. The battlefields are nice, but allot of walking for similar scenery. Make sure you get to some of the museum displays.

Williamsburg is a long drive from Gettysburg.

Wife and I usually go to Williamsburg for either Thanksgiving or Christmas to see how they celebrated back in the day.
