Central IL is the mecca of ducks coming threw the state. Been out for a couple years and focusing on deer hunting. Bought into a pit with a good chance of wacking ducks and geese. Maybe get 8 to 10 hunts. Between fall fishing, deer hunting, tree rats....this fall will go by quick!

Looking for a list of suggested feather of what to keep? I was thinking gadwall, mallards, woodies and geese. Wings? I have never saved.....thoughts on what all to save?

All the flank feathers - if you get any teal, feathers from those would be good too.

On the woodies you want the flank feathers especially the Lemon barred feathers that fly tyers use for Catskill dry flies and the white and black tipped ones that fly tyers use for streamers

You may have some who want wing feathers for doing wet flies.

I'm always looking for larger flank feathers, drakes have the more attractive feathers for our jig tying. I'd be willing to do some material trades if you get a surplus. I go through plenty every year, my favorite feathers quack. Can't get enough mallard and gadwall flank feathers.

I have duck hunted for 3 years now. I am VERY interested in what feathers to save etc. We get just about everything down here. I can't believe how many capes I threw out over the past few years. :-(

Alright guys......I am on the same page. We will see what happens. This club is set with small ponds that will be kept open and on top of the bluffs above river back about 4 miles. I am betting mallards and gads but will see about woodies. Our teal season starts in Sept and have the word out already to save the FEATHERS!!! Teal hunting in the backwaters and swatting skeeters has not been my thing the last couple of years. Would rather be setting by the the hickory tree in Sept listening for tree rats cutting!
Appreciate the advice.....can never go wrong on Jigcraft.com!
