Fly Tying Class This Week & Extras

Class this week was ok for me .. Tring to dub without a loop sucks for me but I tried.. This weeks fly was a Claret Emerger.. I did get a pheasant Tail Nyph tied after 50 trys !! I also did my fav Chrominds .. As alway Feed back Welcome !!

I've been doing a lot of split thread dubbing lately and really like it for some flies! I hate just putting dubbing on the thread and winding it on.... NEVER comes out right!

They look good - I have a lot of store bought dubbing but I mix up a bunch with my coffee grinder. Using it gets better with practice. I tie a lot of Catskill dry flies and they're ones you put dubbing right on the thread with no wax. Hang in there you'll get the down.

I've always just used some chapstick then twist the dubbing on. Nice looking flies.

What Bucko said. Unscented chap stick works wonders and use dubbing sparingly just barley color the thread.
