I've been under the weather lately so havn't been putting any ties up lately. Doctors tell me that I had another heart attack, went in and had a couple stents put in a clogged artery.Told me to quit smoking and sent me home less than 24 hours later. With all the talk and threads about the float n fly I was going to tie some with craft fur, even dug out several colors that I had on hand. But why should I change something that's been so productive for me in the 18 years that I've been tying them. They have produced thousands and thousands of fish since I first tied one, first fish caught on my ties was on one.Only variable that I might add to the original is white satin. Here's a few I tied this afternoon,1/16 and 1/32 on a 4 sickle. Used LT.SIAM AB glass krystals for eyes, another new favorite of mine. One pic shows the finished underbody before finishing with the flank feathers and hackle. I just had to do a blacklight photo. I think these might catch a fish or two this year. Come on warm weather, I've had enough of this winter. View attachment 6View attachment 7View attachment 8View attachment 9

JJ1, you do some really impressive work and these are no different, just amazing work!!! Not to be on a soap box but July 28th of this year will be 2 full years off the cigarettes, I have cancer and that didn't make me quit but my doctor gave me a prescription for a nicotrol inhaler that you use just like a cigarette, it even feels like a drag from a smoke only it isn't quite as enjoyable and after 2 months on that I was done and I don't even have cravings like some get, the stuff was great because I only used it to get people off my back and now I'm glad I tried it. Take care of yourself because we all want to keep seeing the awesome works af art you make that you call jigs.

Jim it is great to hear the doctors were able to patch you up and were able to keep the ticker going, got a few patches in my ticker too. Take care of yourself and try to stop smoking, it does help.

I agree with you about your float & fly jigs. Why would you would to change an awesome jig that has been a killer jig. I can't wait to get the ones you sent me wet..

Led,I definitely want to catch some So Cal crappies,if those gills don't eat them first. Down to about 4-5 cigarettes a day now,80% less than before. I feel I still have hundreds of trips still in me.

The eyes on these are cool, the Lt. Siam reflects three colors depending on the angle. Red,blue and gold on these eyes and they are cheaper than 3-d eyes, less than a penny a jig.

Fm, I buy them on ebay for $6.98 for 1440 pieces and superglue them on the jig heads. I buy 3mm and 4mm sizes for my jigheads.

In this addiction, sometime it is easy to forget to keep with a good thing. Got to have the simple fish catchers. Those look excellent.

Glad to hear you are on the mend - the cigs are rough and it is both a mental and physical challenge with them. For me it was anyway. I have been quit for a year and a few months now and my chest feels sooooo much better. I ate cinnamon Altoids - and a lot of them - when ever i got the craving. Ended up with a huge cavity in a tooth after 6 months. haha.

JIm best wishes from down here too; you got a big heart so all power to the recovery. Love the float n fly jigs, my mind's ticking over at applications here; no one uses the technique.
I'm trying so hard to cut down on the smokes. Hate it when my little nephews and nieces look at me all sad and say "Uncle Mal I don't want you to die" (lots and lots of very graphic anti smoking ads on TV here).
