Has anyone here ever used it? It comes in different lengths and colors and the description is synthetic bucktail and I was wondering if someone used it if they could tell me how good it actually is. I likt the fact that you can get different lengths and the way it is bundled, it would make it so much easier as there would be so much trimming but I'm skeptical is it looks like the back of a jig would end up looking like a paint brush so if anyone used it help me out, thanks.

SJ ... I have used a lot of it ... really good for most all size jigs but extra good for larger ones. Depends on the "Denier" (think I spelled that right) that you get to apply to the right application. It easy to handle.

I'm a buck tail man myself . But you can hold the stuff between you thumb and fore finger , pull out fillements . then add them back to shape the tail the way you want . Takes a little practice but you get pretty fast at it . I have to use a lot of it on really large lures 1/2 and up . Have used that buck tail and craft hair doing the same technique .

Have a pattern that I use it on. I like it but like Toadfrog I use alot more of the Bucktail. It is a good type of craft fur and has it place. I use it as a wing material only. There is much better type of this stuff out there. Personally I like to use natural hair when at all possible.

I actually don't like it.To me it has no action like bucktail does.I like the tapered ends that bucktail has and the fish hair has none. It's like tying yarn on a jig. This is my opinion but have tried it a lot and it never turned me on.It's like cutting a piece of good bucktail and tying a jig that is correct looking, then tying the same jig with the part of the hair that you cut up.Put them side by side then you will see what I'm talking about.

I have used fish hair for 'dart' type jigs used for Pompano in the Gulf of Mexico. It's good for that.

I tie my teasers and jigs using bucktail. It is more buoyant and active in the water.

Some time ago, someone mentioned the mixing of bucktail and fish hair, but have never tried it.

Hunting season is almost on us and deer tails are plentiful from hunting friends. JMHO C2
