Finally found the tanned rabbit skin I had and got out some clamps and two heavy cutting boards and attached it to my table. Stretched it tight and using a single razor blade cut it up

here's what I ended up with

and five nice little pieces I can use as tails

I took all the screw ups and cut the hair off and saved it - when I get the grinder out I'll give it a good mix and have some really nice dubbing

Thought I did pretty good for the first time - but it might be easier to buy them cut already!!!!!!!!!! I still have 3/4 of a skin left.

Good job Doug. It's amazing how how hair you end up with after cutting the zonkers but it does come in handy for us fly tyers.

Not too bad Fatman, I commend you for even trying it because if I did it there would be hair and blood everywhere and all I would have to show for it would be enough material for 1 tail. BTW Cabeas is have a sale right now on their regular zonkers, not the cross cut, $3.36 per pack and you get 6 feet of it, on the black I got 6 feet with an extra 4 inches, and it is pretty decent and at that price I'll leave the cutting to others but a good try anyway, I would call it a success!

I have a couple of very large uncut rabbit pelts, so I think that I'll try this. Will try cutting them with a seam ripper or a box cutter.

Good stuff FM.
