Been on the crappies every weekend since 3rd weekend of March. Going to switch to trolling with jig or cranks so I thought would switch gear and snag a couple gills. 1/32 with #8 sickle with Stumps mush to the head. Green color from Crazy Angler along with mylar and pink chenille was the ticket today. Water temp was 77.
Caught over 30 today and kept 18.

Thanks Guys. You can see 10ft down in this clear strip mine lake. Goes against all rules of bright vs natural colors in clear water.

Nice gills and looks like the fish like the jig!

I fished the river here hard Thursday and Friday but didn't find any on the beds but some are peeing and working on the beds so they should be on the beds by the 13th of this month :)

That mylar does look interesting and is peaking my curiosity. The clearish/pearlish color you are using on that jig would give an awsome buggy look along with the illusion of movement. Might be a good substitute for silicone leg material as well to create appendages up higher on the body for fly/jig patterns.

The gills beat most anything in my book...... pound for pound fighters and no contest in the taste & texture category. Maybe only rival the yellow perch, but they only have half the fighting heart as the sunfish family. ;)

Congrats on putting some fresh fish in the freezer!

Agree with fight Attica......get a couple different sizes mylar because I know you make a lot of different weights. There is a small, med, large.
