All: I just got a message from a friend that is also a friend of Flatfish. ( Robert at Crazy Angler). They had a wild fire that got some of his out buildings. It took down all of the power lines over a large area. So guess that we will not hear from him for a while on the computer.

It is my understanding that it only got the out buildings behind his house. His shop and tackle store is in front of the house. It is a large metal building and would be hard to catch on fire. His cell phone is still operational but don't know if he has a generator that will keep that charged or not. My friend ask if he needed any help and he said he had more than enough help at present. That is the Texas way!!!

Lets keep Robert in our thoughts and prayers during this time of crisis. BTW there are wild fires all over this part of Texas. Another one could pop up any time. 5 with in 15 miles of this location. All on other side of the lake from us.

Dang I hate to hear that. I was hoping that tropical storm Lee would go y'alls way and give you some drought relief. Instead it came over us in MS. It just stopped raining after two days.

Thanks All for the out pouring of support. I know that Robert will appreciate it when He gets back on.

A up date from our part of Texas which is about 40 miles from Robert. Part of the town of Karnack second nearest town to us, Was under emergency evacuation order. Fire was two miles from there and moving fast. The forest service got it turned and people got to go back home this morning. A small 30 acre fire was rekindled 6 miles South-West of us and the locals got out the tractors and a old bulldozer to get it under control. Its my understating that it is contained and 99% out. The fires on the North end of the lake are 95% contained. Very little smoke can be seen from our location. Much improved from yesterday at this time. The air is still hazy from this fires and there is the smell of wood smoke less that yesterday. In fact it smells like a giant BBQ took place.

Doc Crappie Being Native American ( First Nation) We have been offering up Prayers to Great Spirit (God ) to give us rain. We believe that he gives us what we need when we need it. Its just not time for some reason. May be this will be a time of renewal and cleansing. This year because of low water we don't have the problem of Giant Salvinia, Very few Water Moccasins. When we do get rain and the lakes fill up we will have a lot of new territory for little bait fish and the bigger predator fish (Crappie and Bass) will not be far behind. This will make for some very good fishing in Two Years and trophy fish in the third year after the drought is over. But Keep doing the Rain Dance would like to see it done Italian style.

I tried call Robert yesterday and didn't get an answer. I didn't know about the fire until I looked at this. I'll have to give him a call back and leave a heart felt message. How sad, I hope he is o.k. " Lord please watch over our friend and see to health and well being" amen.

Haven't been able to get a hold of Robert. A friend is going out tomorrow to check on him that lives in Tyler, Texas. Hopefully we will have more news tomorrow about Robert. As for things around here they heated up a little bit this afternoon. About three O'clock we had another new fire start about 7 miles away. The wind was carrying smoke in our direction and we got concerned. by 7:00 P.M. the reports are that it is under control and no longer a threat. We are surrounded by water on three sides of us but the national wildlife refuge is across the road and has heavy amount of trees and tinder.

When I moved here I never dreamed that wildfires would posse any sort of threat to our house and family. This has me a little shaken. Am sure we will Get thur with this I just keep praying for rain. With Gods help we will get thur this.

Here is a link to a map of Texas Wildfires. You can zoom in on this map. Go North west of Shreveport, La to the state line and you can see Caddo lake. We live on the south-west shore on Long point. http://ticc.tamu.edu/Response/FireActivity/ . As you can see there are a lot of wildfires around us and that map doesn't show Louisiana Fires ether.

WE are not that far from Bear Creek. About 15 miles or so. And so it goes. Fire popped up in Caddo Parish up at far north end of the lake. 3 fire districts rushed in and got it put out quickly before it could spread. And the saga continues.

Neat view from space Rad.
