Reading the recent 'zonker' post reminded me that i wanted to see if anyone has tried these yet?

Bass, pike or saltwater anglers who want big, long fur zonks may have an interest in the Finn Raccoon - http://www.wapsifly.com/fiz.html - link is to Wapsi that has a decent description of them and there are some retailers online selling them. Hareline also distributes them. Claims to have some long fur fibers.

Shop here has it in two colors. I didn't buy any but looked at them. From what i saw u might want to look at them before buying. The hair varied quite a bit from pack to pack. Some had a lot more under fur.

I have a single patch I bought from the local fly shop. It's a lot like Artic fox, except longer. My patch is about 1" x 2" with very thick fur, but there was a wide variation in the size of the patch and density of the hairs.

Finn raccoon (also called tanuki or raccoon dog) is used in the fur trade to make coats and collars, so full hides are expensive.

The thing about finn raccoon is the color. Most of the pelts I have seen are shades of brown or gray. It comes dyed for tying in all kinds of vibrant colors. I don't know whether the fly tying suppliers are buying lighter colored pelts and bleaching them, or scrap pieces of light areas trimmed from varigated pelts.
