Well, I am always begging my grandpa to come to the lake with mr. Saturday, I finally cornered him and MADE him come. Perfect day... just a light breeze... and we whupped em. Two and a half hours of fishing, caught a TON, and brought home 37 big bull gills!

Grandpa looked at me funny when I handed him my 6'6"Eagle Claw glass ultralight with a fly under a pencil bobber and split shot. Then he felt one of those nice gills turn sideways and pull like they do, and he got a big smile on his face! Now he has to get one for himself! Hahaha

We had the family all over last night and had fish tacos. GREAT times!

That's cool getting out with grandpa and looks like you had enough there for a whole bunch of fish tacos. I love fish tacos.

Thanks guys! Hawnjigs, no not Milford. When it comes to bluegills, I generally fish much smaller water. A couple county lakes in the area have got some nice ones, and not near as many people!

Talked to the ol' man tonight... he was wanting to know times for our church for this coming sunday. (They go to a different church, and theirs was having church at the park this Sunday) I told him we go to the 8:00 service. He wasn't enjoying that idea much until he figured out that we could take the ladies out for brunch, hit up Cabelas, and still go back to this same spot and catch gills again. Now he is planning on the early service! Hahahaha stay tuned! I might have a better rig for him to try this time.... I found my ice slip bobbers.

I sure wish I could relive that experience with my grandpa again . He always liked to spit tobacco juice on his bait or lures . Said it caught more fish . Tried it once as a kid . My head did more swimming than the fish after a chew of Beachnut.

You got a pic of your ice slip bobbers?? I've been looking for some really small ones and need some opinions on them.

I am using those Thill ice/fly strike indicators. I haven't used them much yet, so haven't formed an opinion just yet. They should work just perfectly for these small jigs, but we will see!

Well it was hot and WINDY today! We went anyway. And gramps got his butt handed to him by the kid chuckin bugs again! :D He caught 2, I caught 24... lol. Fishing was tough. 2-3" of rain the past two nights and 25-30mph winds made two of my favorite spots unfishable. We ended up cleaning 11. Enough for dinner for the wife and I!

qk, I use the thill strike indicators in the two smaller sizes all the time and really like them. Always keep a dozen or so in my tackle bag in case I lose a couple.Only bad thing is I keep losing the pegs and they never package extras which I think they could spare a couple. Use tooth pick tips when I lose them. Ihope you get gramps out again soon when it isn't so windy.
