It has been awhile since I posted any jigs, I didn't quit tying, instead I've been just flat out busy tying silicone bass jigs, most have been 1/8oz finesse jigs but lately it has been 5/16oz and 3/8oz Eakins style weedless round heads, over 200 and still going but the water was muddy from rain for the moth of June and now this month is has be scorching hot so everyone is using jigs. Anyway I'm going to go fishing with a friend for some slab crappie and he asked me to tie some big jigs, and his big are 1/16oz with a #1 hook so this is what I came up with. The first jig is chart. and black with some green, it has chart. buck tail with gold flash as the tail, some black pearl chenille for the body and a black marabou plume tied hackle style to finish the jig off with a wispy collar. The bottom jig is a simple silver with black that has 2 black hackle tips and silver flash for the tail, and shad gray chenille for the body, this is a nice easy jig to tie that makes for a great minnow imitator, I know this pattern works great for trout as my grandson put a beat down on his dad with that jig in a 1/32oz and a #6 hook. It felt good to do some crappie jigs again.
