Just got another package from CAT. Had to show off the Ruby Slipper and June Bug powder paint. Also got some barred zonker.
This is my first jig to use cross-cut zonker for the body.
A zonker is a strip of rabbit hide that comes from down his back, from head to tail. That way the hair lies with the leather. Cross cut is a strip cut from one side of the rabbit to the other side. The hair flows to one side on these. You can wrap cross-cuts on the hook shank and the fur will be pointing in one direction. Lots of fun to play with and lots of action in the water.
Here's some more I just tyed. After I tyed the zonker strip for the tail, I tyed on a strip of two-toned cross-cut and wrapped the hook shank with the hair pointing toward the hook point. I always put on a good coat of clear nail polish before I wrap to glue everything.
Stumphunter - Once you go zonk, you never go back!!!
Scott - Those look excellent, really like the clean look of the ones on your second set of jigs, good proportions. That red head / white tail on your first pics would be my first choice from the box... but thats just a color thing.
