Tied a few versions of Schlappen feather jigs for bass. These are my first to be tied like the west coast tyers do for steelhead. However, I used collared football head jigs. Had to modify two of them with cyanoacrylate glue to keep their feather's rachis in place on the collar. Chalk that up to my learning curve.
The feathers give the jigs a large, buggy profile I think.
Tied them on 1/8-ounce jigs with #1 black nickel sickle and round bend hooks. Used saddle hackles and Schlappen plumes for claws/tails. Click on the image below to view a closeup in another browser window.
