Took my grandpa out this evening for a little crappie fishing at a local fishing dock. This place gets a ton of pressure, and the fish are pretty finicky most times. He just got a new flasher, so the main purpose of tonight was to get him a few hours of experience running that. I got him up and going inside, with a few fish underneath him, and I went to a spot I've been having luck lately. I wasn't disappointed once I figured out what they wanted! Color combo of the night was pink head with black body and tail. Caught probably a dozen crappie, two gills, and a spotted bass. Four of the crappie were keepers... And NICE ones at that. 11.5 to 13 inches! Here's a pic of me with a couple 12" and 13" slabs.

Thanks guys! Gramps had one strike last night... Got him up to the surface and came off. I kinda wish the ice jigs I use had sickle hooks. Seems like those "nibblers" get hooked better with them.

Also, it's kinda funny when fish turn their nose up at good live bait and slam a well-presented plastic. That's the sort of stuff that makes my day!

I fixed em up last night for the mother-in-law.... Before I got more than a bite, the rest of the fillets were GONE! :) guess I better go early tomorrow and get some more now.
