I am curious to know what kind of dye is best to use to color white satin, feathers, hair. I have a lot of white satin and I would like to dye pieces of it different colors rather than buying the different colored fabrics. (I know I'm Cheap) I have been using markers to color it and it works but I think dying the pieces would be more time and cost effective. Right? Other than the satin I'm wondering about dying Deer,Squirrel,Coyote tails...ect

I tried dyeing some white satin and for some reason the dye didn't hold and washed out during the rinse.I've dyed lot's of materials and this is the first material that I couldn't dye. So I bought some permanent neon markers and they work although I havn't put them in water to see how long they hold.

Satin is like chenille in that the name refers to the construction, not the material. It can be made from any type of fiber, though the most common types are silk, rayon or polyester. Polyester is the most common type for inexpensive satin, and a royal pain to dye. It requires special dyes and long boiling times under high heat.

You're probably best off with continuing to use the markers.
