They just plain WORK. Pink 1/16-oz minnow head, mallard flank with silver holo flashabou... the bluegill in the middle is a solid 7.5" or so fish.

I gave the rest I had in my box to a guy I was fishing next to so he could fish a few and use some as examples because he does some tying too.... had a good chat about tying with him. Pretty cool!

You found open water during a midwest winter?

We only got a few weeks of hardwater season this year. :( I posted a picture in the "Hardwater" section of the results of our one trip. These were caught flipping off a fishing dock... I caught them right before I reeled up, generally as I was lifting the rod tip. Gotta love that THUMP!

Thanks for all the comments! I would rather be lucky than good....

Zac sounds like them crappies like that warm water around the dock. That is one of the reasons that I like the big old heavily rooted cypress trees. The warmer weather and sun shining on them warms up the water and around the shallow bays and coves. Sounds like you had a lot of fun. Sure is nice to pull out a nice bunch of slabs early in the part of the season when the water is still very cold. The meat is so firm the white the Gill is a added bonus. Love them bream the meat is so sweet. Good eating.

LOLS Zac every thing taste better with avocado. One of my all time favorite fruits. They are called butter fruit in some places. The only thing wrong with the is that they are high is cholesterol.

After working in the Civil engineering office at Niagara Falls Air Reserve station and seeing some of the air testing results from areas off the base - enjoy your avocado's!!!!!! Just the crap in the air will probably kill us!!!

Doug that's just that dirty air from Canada. Were I live the pine tree filter the air so pollution is no big deal. Still want a health heart have a few more years of crappie catching left in me.
