Don't like how lead is being phased out in some places.

I don't like how the use of lead is being reduced. Lead free sinkers are more expensive and don't have the weight to volume ratio as lead. Lead is very cheap and easy to find on the side of the road as scrap from weights, etc. Let's keep it where lead will always be able to use and find. Anyone agree?

Trust me, we've been dealing with the fight on keeping our lead for a long time. Do a search on Lead Ban and you'll find LOT"S of info on it. I'll disagree with you on one thing Lead is no longer cheap!!!

Some of us here remember the days when you went to the tire store and they just gave you all they had. Where if you saw someone tearing down a really old house, you could check in their dumpsters for the old lead water pipe. Call the local plumber and ask and you'd get some.

I've been EXTREMELY lucky in that I've NEVER had to pay for lead.

It's CHEAPER than non-lead sinkers. I can get my dad to take me to Pull-A-Part,a salvage yard, and I pay $1 to go in but can get lead for free. I can go walking and get free lead and exercise. My neighbor used to race cars and gave me about 50 pounds of lead. Even scored a 25 pound block of pure soft heavy lead. He gave me the lead for free. I can get my dad to take me to a racing store and I buy a block of hard lead for cheap.

Here's my lead stockpile.

Last year there was talk of banning lead and I sent emails regarding my feelings to the EPA. I didn't want to get stuck with the 1,000's of heads I had so sold a bunch on ebay cheap. After the scare I restocked and probably have more now than before.

Just a thought I think that the real danger of a ban will be the next 12 months. After, and what I mean is that until we have a new administration in place, that the danger will be passed. I get the feeling that people are getting feed up being told what is good for them, They want it to stop and I think that they will speak very loudly at the next election to have it stopped. A soft tyranny of the US people will come to a abrupt halt. The People in Washington will get the message one way or another. Want to keep your job stop all this foolishness. People are getting feed up I maybe a old crank but do read the people very well.

Melt - if you're only paying a $1 and going in and getting a bunch for FREE that's great!!!!!!!!!!! But us shall I say older folk :P think paying a $1 for a lb of lead is ridiculous.

The fight will continue as always on proposed bans

I do pay for my lead sometimes. Banning lead is stupid. Why don't they ban florescent bulbs because of the mercury in them? Mercury is many times more toxic than lead. Lead is safe, dense, and easy to melt. I like to see lead still in use 10,000 years from now. Lead is what makes a sinker, a sinker. Let's hope lead is never banned.
