Hmmmmmm Like the herring

It is interesting. Did you catch the wire for the underspin? at 9.35 cents each makes me wonder what Do-It is thinking. Sure assembly may be easier and casting as well. Will leave the rest unsaid!

I like the herring mold as well. Going to give Zeiner's a call and see if they can't order it for me. It calls for a gama 604 but that's a 90 degree hook so other hooks will fit and not break the bank.

The herring head does have a lot of little details to it that would make it fun to paint. The combined ring & barb collar is a plus also. I actually like the looks of the shakey head down to the 1/8 size too. The flat face should let plastics or tied tails kick pretty good, but maybe cause a nightmare of snags. Pretty much all the lead being up at the leg bend of the hook allows a huge hook gap too.

What I don't get is the teardrop jig. 1 1/2 oz 6/0 ok I can see 6/0 hook. But 1 1/2 oz in sweet water? Saltwater that I would understand. EC 570 ? Most bass fisherman I know use 3/8 to 3/4 oz. or less. So what are you fishing for? And why limit yourself to that. Do like 2.25 paddle tail; I have a mold from MF that looks a lot like it. Caught a lot of fish sweet and saltwater on it.The mold I have is open pour and only two baits. That does 6 at a time. Hmm did to go that way.

I will be getting the herring mold too. I've been pouring heads like that for a little while with a modified ultra minnow mold. Killer on river walleye!

Earlier today I received word from Zeiner's that the 2016 molds are released by Do-it and my Herring mold is on the way. Probably get it Saturday, can't wait to start pouring some of those Herring heads, think it will be a killer.

The heavy teardrop is being used by walleye fishermen below the dams in heavy river currents.

Ok now I get it. Would need a big jig doing that kind of fishing. Thank you gary. BTW Barlows has the teardrop and Herring molds on their website now.

Those 1 1/2 Teardrop heads would work for Striped Bass back where I was in OK. Again, right below a dam tailrace.
