Thought i might post this for those who use nail polish for their heads. I know this is not new info and obsolete for all powder painters but i thought id share how i paint some of my heads. I pour the nail polish into jars. I use empty makeup jars.

Then I just dip the head once.

Then I use my index finger to tap the hook until atleast two good drips come off

Then using a piece of cardboard I gently tap the head three or four times to get the excess off.

Then just hang em or put in clips with the heads up.

NP dipped heads will need a little more time to dry than just brushing it on. I mainly do this for my white heads because for some reason the white ones I paint with brush look like $&#@. After dried I dot eyes and clearcoat or epoxy.

I was thinking the same thing...LOL!! I think you have a good way of doing that but basic powder is just heat and dip and you're done and even if you left them uncured they will be at least as strong as the NP but if you do a bunch and then cure them at 350 for 15 minutes you'll have a really hard finish. The only problem you need a heat source and powder. I'd recommend getting some Columbia Coatings black, brown, and purple in 4oz jars and then get some white, red, and yellow from Harbor Freight as you'll get a pound for what you normally pay for 2oz. I don't advise getting the black unless you have a super glossy clear to mix with it because it is a matte black.

I painted for several years with nail polish and swore by it. The fish like them just fine. Your way looks about as efficient as you can get with a liquid paint.

Once i got started powder painting, i REALLY enjoyed it and gave all MY nail polish to my wife and daughter. :P

you are going to need a lot of acetone for thinning. The fp will dry up faster in the make up jars. Does look clean but think you will be happier powder painting.

GREAT advise but I would suggest you go to RoseysPowderCoating.com while they have their Spring Sale on and get whatever colors you need (by the pound only) for 50% off. Basic colors like Matte Black, White, some Red's & Blue's etc end up being less for a pound than you pay for a 2oz jar from most suppliers. FYI. In case it isn't still on the opening page, the Promo Code for the 50% off is SPRING50. Better hurry though because they are selling out of popular colors and won't restock till April. Sale ends 3/31. BTW, I'm in no way affilliated with Rosey's, just passing on a great deal I ran across.
