Hi there,

I was looking for a pattern that was big enough to qualify as a northern pike lure and also heavy enough for a beginner-friendly baitcaster setup when I read about chatter baits being good pike lures.

Here´s the result: A 3/4th heavy wire banana mold loaded with a plug screw in the rear and a connector link in the nose, accepting a 3/0 open eye seawash hook with hackle feathers on the one end and a large shaker lure blade on the other. Head and tail section can be tied seperately before they are crimped together to form a deceiver pattern. The tank test was very promising. I can imagine this thing as a sea bass (european striper) lure in the surf as well. Action goes from a subtle, material activating quiver over a bomber-lure like strong zig-zag to erratic surface action.

That should catch some pike! Pretty amazing looking. Having two separate ties along with the chatter blade should really draw some attention. Another plus is that it JUST LOOKS DARN COOL, which might give some tentative fisherman a little more confidence in at least trying it.

Looks good .. been doing some work with similar for bass except using silicon skirts ... have gone to a spinner bait head and wire connector to blade and have found Coast Lock snaps to work the best ... any snap will work but the coast lock seems to have the edge.

I think it is around the Patent .. see attached copies ... a lot of guys are being contacted about it from z man.

(These PDF were posted on TackleUnderground for downloading & I am just passing them on for those that might have an intrest in the subject.)

thanks everybody, especially. for the patent information! Not planning on selling to the States though. Only thing that bothers me is the limited strength of the freshwater parts. Up in Norway, people finally start chucking soft baits at chicken halibut in shallow water.
When it comes to breaking strength, I would prefer to bypass the blade and send the line through a hole or something.

Elegant-looking bait.

Chatterbaits were really in vogue for black bass in my area several years ago. Their popularity has faded a bit. Can't really see why. It's a pretty decent catcher of active/reactive bass.
